The forest itself
Jessica knew there was only one thing to do to find out. She had to enter the forest and explore it herself. Jessica had taken only short walks around the forest’s edges, but never ventured deeper. She had also never been to where Steven often went.
He also didn’t help by not wanting her to join him on his walks. Steven said, “They did so many things together already and this was his thing”.
He wanted it to stay that way.
