What happened to the chickens?
How could a simple animal get past the locks? Jack stood up and frowned. He examined the locks. The locks were rusted and old, and looked like they had been punctured by a sharp object.
Bonnie was the one he knew he must tell.
17. Telling Bonnie
Jack yelled at his wife as soon as he entered the house, “I’ve got to tell you something.” “I don’t know how else I can say it.”
Bonnie’s face turned paler as Jack explained to her what had happened with the chickens.
The morning was relatively calm just a few hours earlier. Jack’s family was in a state of chaos. Jack’s family was devastated by the chickens’ death, but he had a sense that it wasn’t over.
