70. Ten
Jack told his family, “We can keep 10,” a few weeks after the peacocks had hatched. The baby peacocks ran around his farm in a frenzied manner. Jack had surveyed his resources, and determined that they could only keep ten.
The faces of his daughters immediately began to fall. Jack replied, “I understand. I know you wanted more than just that.” Don’t forget that we have a brand new cat.
The cat that the children had saved survived and became a pest control expert.
71. Cat Friends
Jack had a very full farm, as the cat also brought along friends. Barn cats always seemed to multiply. He anticipated a large vet bill for all of them to be fixed.
He had to admit that they were cute.
He thought, I’m becoming softer as I age. Barn cats are cute, right? What’s the matter with him? No doubt, his father was turning around in his grave.
