52. It’s Not Another Letdown
Jack hoped that his children wouldn’t be disappointed again. He didn’t want to see them permanently thrown away from the farm.
Bonnie would take over if the girls got too worried about the eggs. She was always more the disciplinarian. She would talk sense to the girls.
It’s not as if the girls don’t understand the realities of farmlife.
53. The Reality of Farm Life
Nature can be cruel.
Anyone, regardless of whether they own a farm, can learn from animals. They had seen it all before: animals dying, flowers dying and much more.
Jack’s daughters knew that a surprise frost, or a difficult birth, could cause a farm to be thrown for wack. They had also seen Jack deal with similar situations (and this one) in the past.
