44. The Other Chickens
Jack was convinced by his wife but wanted to see the chickens himself. He ran back to his deck, and peered under it. He saw a group of black eyes, some beady, staring at him. They looked alarmed if not annoyed.
They were.
Jack was elated as he watched the flock. The flock appeared to be startled and worried, but otherwise unharmed.
45. What did they run from?
What did they run away from?
Jack was certain that his chickens would not have left their eggs or coop without a reason and fled, hiding beneath the deck because there were no food and water. Jack tried to get them out of the coop, but they refused.
Jack decided to give them some more time. They would have to return to the coop in some way. He went back to the deck to tell his wife what to do.
