42. We’ve Lost A Lot
Bonnie, like Jack, was a farmer. She ran the homestead, but she was sharp and savvy. Bonnie brought up a valid point that Jack had not considered.
She was aware that these eggs were not chicken eggs.
Jack replied, “Bon, we don’t have much of a choice.” We’ve lost a lot today.”
43. Good News
Bonnie retorted, “Not all the chickens have disappeared.” They ran and hid. They are under the deck. “We have about 80 percent left.”
Jack’s spirit rose. He had no idea that the chickens survived. He questioned his decision as he looked back at the cornfield strewn with eggs.
The situation was unpredictable if not dangerous.
