The Affair
Karen tried to hide her tears, but when she looked into her husband’s eyes it was obvious that he had known about their affair for some time. He knew about it even before the baby was born.
He knew right away that it wasn’t the baby’s, but he also knew that Karen would be happy with the baby so he did not say anything. But that was not all.
George’s Hope
When he was trying to bond with the child, he examined the baby carefully. The baby did not have his facial features. The baby had different eyes and hair from his or Karen.
He knew the baby was not his, but wanted to make Karen smile so he didn’t say anything. Karen was the one who had to speak.
